Ares Design, as part of its ‘Legends Reborn’ series of limited-build cars, has revealed the finished version of its tribute to the DeTomaso Pantera. It’s called the Panther and it looks amazing.

Distilled to its core, the Ares Panther is a Lamborghini Huracan with new skin. The entire body of the Lambo is trashed and replaced with new carbon fibre panels. The Huracan is a few inches wider than the original Pantera and has a 12cm longer wheelbase but, overall, the proportions of the Panther work.

Modern touches are subtle and tasteful, like forged 20-inch (front) and 21-inch (rear) wheels sitting beneath chunky flared arches. Ares even managed to keep the pop-up headlights, now sporting LED beams. A sharp chin spoiler and redesigned taillights give this away as a homage rather than an original.

Well, until it starts up at least. Power doesn’t come from a Ford-sourced V8, instead, the Huracan engine provides the juice. Here, it’s tuned to 477kW and 599Nm thanks to a new ECU and exhaust system. We bet it sounds pretty tasty too.

An all-wheel-drive system and a dual-clutch gearbox send those extra kilowatts to all four wheels, while a set of Brembo six-piston carbon ceramic brakes guarantees plenty of stopping power. Ares quotes the weight at 1423kg.

Inside are swathes of carbon fibre and Alcantara, while Ares says each interior is “fully customised based on customer's design request.”
