Alfa Romeo to add a 260kW Giulia?
Alfa’s M3 killer might be getting a new baby brother.
The Quadrifoglio variant of the Giulia has been highly lauded since its unveiling back in 2015. Fans around the world were ecstatic upon its launch but sales of Giulia are not at the levels Alfa might have hoped for or expected. Regardless of the reasons for slow sales of the M3 and AMG C63 rival, the Italians want that to change.
The super-sedan is supplemented by the Giulia Veloce here in New Zealand, which is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot engine good for 209kW. The Quadrifoglio, by comparison, is substantially stronger, with an output of 377kW. Now it would appear that Alfa is readying a 260kW intermediate model, as presaged by this piece from Vozi Tatarevic, a freelance automotive journalist.
The FCA OEM service site is now showing a new 350 Horsepower engine option for the 2.0L Giulia. The site shows global service info so I am not sure if it us US bound. pic.twitter.com/HhdBU9I1qC— Bozi Tatarevic (@hoonable) 9 November 2017
Nothing is confirmed as yet but Tatrevic says the information was obtained from a global service website. Whether or not the model comes to pass is unclear.
If it does make production, however, expect the new engine to power a variant of the Stelvio crossover as well.
