Check out this 200hp Indian Super Scout

Sometimes the Scandinavians are bonkers, as evidenced by this insane turbocharged Indian Scout homage out of Sweden.

Built last year by enthusiasts Anders Lundgren and Lasse Sundberg as a tribute to the Swedish co-founder of Indian, Oscar Hedstrom, the bike actually doesn’t feature many Indian Scout parts. It uses the engine, fuel pump, headlight and shifter pedals from a modern Scout, but the majority of the rest is custom made. An exception is the Garret 25 water-cooled turbo, which pushes the engine up to 200hp (149kW), depending on the boost setting.

“We wanted to build a bike that was related to the Indian history of board track racing and at the same time included the new era of technology that Indian stands for today,” Lundgren said. “The Scout model was the perfect choice, and we came up with the name Super Scout to honour the old Scout models that were almost unbeatable on the race tracks.”

The frame was created in three different sections. Sundberg reckoned the chassis was the hardest part of the project, even tougher than implementing the turbocharger and its associated plumbing. The Garret blower features an external wastegate and boost control, while the plumbing is custom-fabricated stainless steel that hugs the frame so as not to disrupt the slim lines of the Super Scout.

A one-off ‘fuel tank’ styled like the old 1920s Indians hides the bevy of modern electronics, wiring, throttle body and a K-tech front master cylinder. The actual tank is under the saddle.

Super Scout also features a fully-programmable ECU and a wireless key fob ignition system that can transmit live engine data via Bluetooth and let you tune it via a tablet or smartphone.

The front suspension is a W&W Indian leaf spring unit while a sprung H and F Mesinger board track replica seat cushions your tush.

Lundgren stated he is still test riding the Super Scout and fine-tuning the engine, and he will use it as a daily rider if no one buys it. Yeah, right, as if nobody wants this!
