Watch the NIO EP9 smash the Nurburgring record

Recently we posted about the NIO EP9 electric hypercar breaking the production car lap record at the Nurburgring. Now video footage has been uploaded of the car belting around the Green Hell.

Making the lap in 6 minutes and 45.90 seconds, the EP9 is both the fastest electric car and the fastest production car around the Nordschliefe configuration of the Nurburgring. Watch the lap below to see how insane that really looks:

Spec-wise, the EP9 can output a full megawatt of power (1000kW, or 1342bhp) and can reach a top speed of 313kmh. NIO evidently think 0-100 times are too plebeian and instead offer a 0-200 time of 7.1 seconds.

The car smashed the previous record holder - the Lamborghini Huracan Performante -  by roughly seven seconds only a couple of months after it ascended the throne of King of the 'Ring.

Still think electric cars are slow?
