Model 3 is faster than Tesla admits
Tesla’s Model 3 may have been beset with delays over recent months but it’s making up for lost time on the tarmac.
Tesla claims the Model 3 Long Range has a 5.1 second 0-60mph (97km/h) time, which isn’t exactly slow, but real-world tests are showing something else.
The Long Range version isn’t a dual motor performance variant like the ‘P’-prefixed Model S cars, instead housing a larger battery pack.
Youtuber i1Tesla tested both a Model 3 Long Range and a Model S 75D in the 0-60mph runs and - spoiler alert - the 75D wins. That’s not unexpected, but what’s of more interest is the Model 3. It pulled a 4.71s run, well under the 5.1 quoted time. The Model S is faster than what Tesla says as well, with a 4.09s time against a rated 4.2 seconds.
With performance Model 3s still to be unleashed, how much quicker can Tesla make the compact sedan?
