BMW 8 Series terrorises the Nürburgring

Two BMW 8 Series test mules were spotted recently working hard at the Nürburgring, one which appears to be the M variant, according to watching spies.

The first part of the clip above shows the camouflaged car pulling into a petrol station and gives us an opportunity to have a close look at the bodywork. Fake headlights are in place but an updated upper and lower facia are featured. The front now has additional supports in the centre which gives the car a meaner, more eye-catching look.

As the car guns it away from the fill-up, we can see two massive exhaust outlets, with a distinctively V8 sound evident.

The video cuts then to the Nürburgring, giving us a short view of the car flying through some bends. This model features four circular tailpipes rather than the two integrated units we saw before, as well as a different bumper, suggesting it is an early M8 undergoing testing; M cars tend to feature more aggressive styling than more mainstream models. Again, the exhaust note hints at a V8 powerplant.

On that note, the M5’s 4.4-litre biturbo V8 would seem to be a good donor unit for the M8, albeit possibly in a higher state of tune. Stay tuned for an official announcement from BMW.
